The same applies to people who find it difficult to communicate because they grew up speaking a different language. In the situation described in the story, the problem is probably a result of the man\u2019s efforts to avoid loneliness by attempting to communicate in spite of his hearing impairment. The story reflects the general principle that \u201codd\u201d behaviour often turns into \u201cordinary\u201d behaviour once we are aware of its context.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr&nbsp;Neumann greeted Mr&nbsp;Krauss, an elderly man\nwho lived nearby. \u201cHello, Mr&nbsp;Krauss\u201d \u201cHello&#8230; and where have you come\nfrom?\u201d Mr&nbsp;Neumann pointed in the appropriate direction and replied, \u201cFrom\ndown there.\u201d \u201cOh, the Hindenburg path.\u201d \u201cThe Hindenburg path? Why\u2019s it called\nthat?\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s so steep you can\u2019t go up it.\u201d \u201cI see.
